Cyprus | Paphos | Coral Bay | Aquasol Holiday Village Apartments

Purpose built holiday complex with two pools, which I didnt use as it was still pretty cool at night and the water temp didnt rise enough during the day to tempt me in, even though the sun got pretty hot at times, quite amazing for January. Nearest beach was shingle and not very nice however Corel Bay Beach, about 1Km away was better [although still not up to the standard of some of Cornwall's beaches in my opinion]

From the Aquasol Village you could probably walk into Paphos, or get the bus and visit the The Tomb of the Kings, which was about a half day visit. You can read more about that here.

Better still, take the coach trip to the Troodos Moutains and Mount Olympus

We hired bikes and did some cycling between the local beaches. Cyprus is very contrasty - you can be on a snow capped mountain in the morning yet sunbathing on a beach in the afternoon.

Highlight for me was probably the best thunder and lightening storm I have ever seen. I was woken initially by faint flashes and low volume rumbling. Looking out over the bay you could see the storm moving in up until the point it was right overhead. The thunder so loud it shook the doors in the wardrobe in the apartment, I have never before or since been deafened by thunder as loud, quite amazing.

Where are the rest of your pictures?

Somewhere in the process of re-installing Windows and swapping hard discs I made the mistake of 'thinking' I had all the pics from this trip on CD - I did, however this was a 'VCD' I had made to show guests who came round, on the DVD player / TV, not a CD with a copy of the original photos. You will probably know that the quality of images in a video stream are way below that of the original .jpg images, however, for some reason unknown to me, I cannot extract even the low quality images from the VCD? So, I have to settle for DVD playback and you have to take my word that I am usually pretty thorough when it comes to data security.
